Day 1

I took a class this summer on CMP math. I have to admit that on at least one of the days I felt like parts of the class were in a strange foreign language. It was quite a surreal feeling. I bring this up because I am feeling the same way today. I "get" the basics-my analogy would be knowing how to ask where the restroom is in Spanish-but beyond that things are a bit fuzzy.

I consider myself an intelligent person. I believe that I can learn new things. The true test will be when I don't have a support person wandering around providing helpful hints and bailing me out when I am stuck. Can I go it alone? I guess I need to look towards "The Little Engine That Could"......I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. Oh and lest we not forget practice, practice, practice!!!!

  1. For me it is more of a struggle of taking the time to read blogs when I have 400 other things I need to be doing. :)

  2. You'll be able to "go it alone" with ease in no time, Kathy! You are an intelligent person and "I know you can, I know you can, I know you can"! Besides, you'll need to help me through it all, too! :-)

  3. aaahhhh another person who feels the same way. To me "tech stuff" feels just like the time Rita Brown said to me "A bunch of us are meeting at Brian Boru's would you like to join us?" And, I said "Sure just tell me where he lives!" HA,I will get there once I figure it all out...just might take awhile. Debbie

  4. It's nice to have that human resource right there, but the support system that you have from classmates taking the class as well is invaluable :)

  5. We're all in the same boat! We just need to be there for each other and scratch each others back. We'll all take that first (blind) step together...

  6. I'm really glad you are taking this trip with us, Kathy. It speaks very well of you, in my estimation.
Here's a middle school principal's blog - http://blogs.cds.ed.cr/msprincipal/ - that seems to have lots of good information to it. I note that the address is not in the U.S. - I think CR is Costa Rica, but I liked what I saw of the blog and the whole site.
